The OTET Syllabus 2026 tells you exactly what Board of Secondary Education, Odisha can ask in the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test. This page opens the OTET Syllabus 2026 topic by topic, for Paper-1 and Paper-2, so nothing on your study list comes from guesswork. Print the OTET Syllabus 2026 tables and tick them off as you go.
Reading the OTET Syllabus 2026 once is not enough. You also need the question count per subject and the content-pedagogy split, both of which sit in the OTET Syllabus 2026 tables below, copied from the Board chart.
Fix the shape of the paper first. This table compares both papers side by side and is the fastest summary of the OTET Syllabus 2026 on the page.

One structural difference matters. Paper-1 has five fixed subjects and no choice; Paper-2 keeps three compulsory subjects and then asks you to pick an optional group. Picking it early is the first practical use of the OTET Syllabus 2026 for a Paper-2 candidate.
Fees, dates and full eligibility are not part of the OTET Syllabus 2026. Those sit on our OTET Apply 2026 details page and our OTET eligibility guide.
OTET stands for Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test, conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Odisha. Clearing it gives you the certificate state government schools ask for. It does not hand you a posting; it makes you eligible to apply, and the OTET Syllabus 2026 decides what you are tested on.
The two papers are not stages of one exam. Paper-1 serves U.P. school level and Paper-2 serves M.E. school level, so sitting both means covering the OTET Syllabus 2026 twice. The two lists share subject names but not depth.
Your training decides where you sit. CT or B.Ed passed candidates, including final year students, may appear in Paper-1; Paper-2 also expects graduation. Read the running notice on the official BSE Odisha website before you fill the form, because wording changes each cycle.
Remember what kind of list this is. The OTET Syllabus 2026 is a teaching syllabus, not a general knowledge syllabus, so a competitive GK book alone will not carry you through the OTET Syllabus 2026.
The chart below is the pattern as the Board sets it out. Read it beside the OTET Syllabus 2026, because the topic lists only make sense once you know each subject carries thirty questions. Pattern and OTET Syllabus 2026 always work together.

Two honest notes. The source chart prints no figure against History & Political Science, so it reads βNot statedβ rather than an invented number β confirm it from the running notification. The chart also carries no negative marking rule, so we claim none; follow the marking scheme printed in your notification.
One remark sits against the subject rows and it is the most useful line in the pattern: βIn each subject area 20 questions will be set form contents & 10 questions from Pedagogy.β That line changes how you read every subject list in the OTET Syllabus 2026.
Here is the Paper-1 half of the OTET Syllabus 2026: five subjects, thirty questions each, no optional choice. Every topic line in this OTET Syllabus 2026 section is copied from the Board chart without rewording.

Paper-2 keeps three compulsory subjects and then splits. Pick Group A (Mathematics with Science) or Group B (History & Political Science with Geography) and prepare only that group. Below is the Paper-2 side of the OTET Syllabus 2026 in full, again copied line for line.

Language-I is where Paper-2 goes deeper. It names authors for all five language options, so an Odia medium candidate must know Fakir Mohan Senapati and Gangadhar Meher by work as well as by name. This part of the OTET Syllabus 2026 is straight recall.
Group B is heavier than it looks, running from the Sultanate and Mughal periods through Kharabela and Ashoka into the Constitution and the physical geography of Odisha. Readers usually find Group B of the OTET Syllabus 2026 safer than Group A.
Most candidates read past this. Twenty content questions and ten pedagogy questions in each subject area turn a third of the OTET Syllabus 2026 into teaching method rather than subject matter.
Question Weightage Across the OTET Syllabus 2026
| Subject Area | Content Questions | Pedagogy Questions |
|---|---|---|
| Language-I (Paper-1 and Paper-2) | 20 | 10 |

| History & Political Science (Paper-2 Group B) | 20 | 10 |
| Geography (Paper-2 Group B) | 20 | 10 |
Child Development & Pedagogy sits outside the table on purpose. The Board attaches that remark from Language-I downwards, so we have not extended it upward inside the OTET Syllabus 2026.
Sort the lines yourself. Aims and objectives, methods and approaches, teaching learning material, remedial teaching and assessment are pedagogy; grammar rules, number systems and the freedom struggle are content. Splitting the OTET Syllabus 2026 into those two piles is a useful evening of work.
Topic lists tell you what to read; old papers tell you how hard it gets asked. These subject wise sets follow the same headings as the OTET Syllabus 2026, so you can test one subject at a time and see which part of the OTET Syllabus 2026 is weakest.

You do not need a shelf of books, only a small set that maps onto the OTET Syllabus 2026 and repeated revision of that set. Each row below is tied to one part of the OTET Syllabus 2026.
Books Mapped to the OTET Syllabus 2026
| Study Resource | What It Covers |

Buy the pedagogy guide in the language you read comfortably. Odia medium candidates lose revision time translating an English guide in their head, and that time belongs to the OTET Syllabus 2026 subject tables instead.
Read in the wrong order a syllabus feels endless; read in the right order it shrinks. This is our sequence for the OTET Syllabus 2026, arranged so you never double back.

The whole thing is on this page, Paper-1 in one section and Paper-2 in the next, copied from the chart Board of Secondary Education, Odisha publishes. For the signed PDF, open the current notice on the BSE Odisha website, which carries the OTET Syllabus 2026 in signed form.
Five, and all five are compulsory: Child Development & Pedagogy, Language-I, Language-II (English), Mathematics and Environment Studies. Paper-1 of the OTET Syllabus 2026 has no optional group.
Group A is Mathematics with Science. Group B is History & Political Science with Geography. The OTET Syllabus 2026 expects you to prepare only the group you choose.
Thirty per subject, with 150 minutes for the paper. Inside each subject area the Board sets twenty content questions and ten pedagogy questions across the OTET Syllabus 2026.
The official pattern chart reproduced above mentions no negative marking rule, so we make no claim either way. Check the marking scheme printed in the notification for your own cycle before deciding how to guess.
Odia, Urdu, Hindi, Telugu or Bengali, in both papers. In Paper-2 the OTET Syllabus 2026 also lists named authors for whichever language you pick.
No. The subject names overlap but the depth does not. Paper-1 stays at primary level while Paper-2 moves into algebra, chemical equations, the Constitution and upper primary literature.
Yes, worth thirty questions in each. Paper-1 covers childhood development; Paper-2 shifts to adolescence plus test reliability, validity, mean, mode, median and standard deviation, as the OTET Syllabus 2026 sets out.
Yes. The OTET Syllabus 2026 marks the boundary of what can be asked, but only old papers show difficulty and repeats. Use the subject wise sets linked above beside the OTET Syllabus 2026.
Those belong to the application notice, not the OTET Syllabus 2026. Our OTET Apply 2026 details page carries the process and the OTET eligibility page covers qualification conditions.
The OTET Syllabus 2026 is not long once you break it into the two pieces the Board itself uses: school level subject content, and the teaching method behind that content. Every table here is arranged around that idea.
Work through Paper-1 or Paper-2 in the order given, keep the school textbooks close, and test each subject with a thirty question set. Nothing outside the OTET Syllabus 2026 needs your time. Bookmark this page and return to the OTET Syllabus 2026 tables every week to tick off what you have finished.
